Viejas 07-23-07 Recap

So Lisa and I ended up going to the "V" last night since we couldn't go on Sunday. Right off the bat, Lisa looked like she was going to have some luck last night. After we cashed in our complimentary $5 coupons, she stuck hers in a $1 slot machine and won $30 on the second spin.
Woo-hoo! I wasn't so lucky on the slot machines, but...when I went upstairs to the poker room, the $60 buy-in w/$50 re-buys and add-ons was in full swing. There was about 7 or 8 tables left of the regulars. I had put my name up on the 3/6 board and walked over to watch the tourney play out while I waited. I noticed at the tourney podium there was a sign that read "2nd Chance Tournament, $40 buy-in No Re-buys 8:15pm". I look down at my watch: 8:05. Woo-Hoo! Nothing better than Donkament action on a Monday night.

So it ended up being a 2 table sng, 20 players total. The table I was sitting at was very soft. But it was enjoyable. Got to play a lot of poker and everyone was very friendly. I picked up some nice hands and chipped up a little in the early rounds. When the blinds hit 300/600, I had about 7500 chips (we started with 4000). The smaller stacks were beginning to push, and I lost about 1/2 of my stack when my QQ ran into KK. I pretty much went VERY card dead. Near the end of the 400/800 level, I ended up being in the BB super short stacked. I think I had about 2000 behind, and had already decided that I would shove blind no matter what. So UTG+1 raises it enough to put me all in. MP insta-calls and then it folds around to me. I shove the remainder of my chips in. The flop comes 8 9 2. UTG+1 bets out like 5 or 6 pinks, and MP moves all in. UTG+1 calls and tables JJ. MP proudly tables his AA. When I saw those hands, I was like DOH! So the dealer smiles at me and says flip one over. I ask everyone which one they want to see first. It ends up being an 8. So I have one card up and the other still face down. So I calling out for another 8.

Turn: K

Everyone looks at me. Dealer says, turn of the other card. I tell her to deal the river first.

River: Q

Everyone looks back at me. I slow roll my 2nd card over.

KIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGGG!

Woo Hoo! Ship it baby!!! My newly tripled up stack was dangerous. Very next hand, I call from the SB with 97 off with 2 limpers in the pot and BB calling. Flop comes 5 5 7. I insta-shove and take down a nice sized pot. A few hands later, there were a couple of bust outs and only 10 were
left. As we were coloring up the black chips, Lisa comes in and tells me she hit 777 on a slot and won $200. Woo-hoo! I told her I cracked AA with K8 on a blind shove, and she basically didn't have a clue what I was talking about. LOL Anyhow, they paid out to 6 spots and I ended up going out 5th when my 82 off ran into A8. We both paired the 8 on the flop and I couldn't hit a
deuce to save my life. My payout was $67. A nice little free-roll Donkament for the evening. I took my $21 in winnings (I gave $6 for dealer tip) and played video blackjack. I went up to $35 playing blackjack and decided to call it a night. Got home, jumped on AP, and spanked out a quick $2 sng for 1st. A nice little night cap to help me sleep.
