Sunday Session at the V

I really need to create a post for many hands of the Sunday session at the V, there were several classic hands, here’s one.

3/6 limit HE, I look down at 99 and I limp in MP. I am looking to flop a set here basically; if paint comes I’ll get leery. I go both ways with a hand like this, sometimes I raise here to build a pot in case I hit the set, sometimes I just play it slow. It’s not like anyone will fold to a raise anyways. So, I limped if I recall correctly, the flop comes 9XX all hearts and at least one paint card. I look back at cards to do a heart check, one thing that I think I need to try to avoid more often. I need to remember what suits I have without the recheck. You can get some reads by that. Anyways, I hit my set and I start to mash the pedal hoping no one has pocket hearts. Oh yeah.. the heart check was a negative, NO HEARTS! I got 2 callers on the flop. Of course they call it’s a whopping $3. If there is any remote possibility of a hand coming together, no one folds there. The turn was…well is wasn’t that substantial and I bet out again and got 2 callers, again. Darn. Well I think I may need to fill up here to win. Then the river comes and it’s also a heart. It’s not the 9 for quads and it doesn’t pair the board. Great! I have my set and the board has 4 hearts on it. I HATE THAT! Well, I decided that I had been the lead on every street and the ONLY way that I win this hand is to bet right out and hope that if there is a small heart they just fold. Well, it worked. I got to drag a decent pot with no heart.. The asian lady next to me, said that she had like TJ for a straight draw, but I have a feeling that the other guy may have had a small heart… I probably lose there without betting, so I think I made a good choice. I’m working on not being afraid of the suited boards. Sometimes if they DO have the suit and only 1 card I card I can try to rep that mine is bigger…

You wanna hear details? I drive a Ferrari 355 cabriolet. (throws keys on desk) I have a ridiculous house on the South Fork. I’ve got every toy you can imagine. And best of all, kids, I am liquid. (Boiler Room (2000)
