pork and bean freeroll

I just realized that I, pretty much unconsciously, obtained "extra chicken" last night at the L&L Hawaiian BBQ place. Well, it wasn't chicken, but it WAS free. While trying to establish what to order as side dished to the Mixed BBQ Combo, I was in a quarry about whether I should go ahead and sacrifice the pork and beans and get the macaroni salad that Amy wanted. I really wanted to try the pork and beans because I don't eat macaroni salad that is not mine. So, I asked the question, which, as it turns out, was basically an unconscious angle shoot, "how much would it be to get the macaroni salad AND the pork and beans?". The young lady at the counter said $1.50 extra for the pork and beans. I said, "well, nah, I'll pass". Since it was our first time, we had already asked what was good and what she recommended. She was extremely kind and I think she felt a need to "take care of us". Needless to say, the next few words were like music to my ears. She said " well, let me see...maybe I could.." and after a few keystrokes on the register, voila... macaroni salad, rice AND pork and beans for NO UPCHARGE. Needless to say, I was impressed. Not with her, but that I had actually obtained the pork and beans free without intentionally trying... Nice shot!
