So back to the trip to Vegas. I tried some mobile posts, but they were not posting via the phone. Just got that fixed with an "over the wire(less)" firmware upgrade so now I can texts away.. This will be a wired post though..
OK..Sat am starts out pretty good, well, other than the cockchugger at the Budget Car Rental Desk. I see why this guy works at "Budget". He is a budget employee IMO. Anyways, he proceed to ask us for 3 forms of picture ID and I said "3, really?", then he is silent and walks to the large sign and points at it for me. It says some BS about 3 forms of picture ID. Thanks asshole, I can read and I may have missed that HUGE white sign. Then, once we provide 6 pcs of picture ID's, he ask for a form of payment for the deposit. Mrs gives him a debit card, he states that they will hold $350 on the card and I said oh yeah babe it's a dumb policy. Then the guy says DUMB? Well, you can go somewhere else and rent if you would like. What a cocksucker...Mrs tells me to pipe down basically, but I had to bite my tongue to keep from hurdling the count and choking that MF'er.
I guess that karma is a bitch, because he haunted me...
We're (I'm) driving the PT Cruiser which I had hoped to get since I have never driven one. BTW, he wanted to charge an extra $10 for a 2nd driver (me) and I simply said that I would not be driving. We (I) decide to pull up on the curb in the median of S. Las Vegas Blvd to take this shot.
It was a bit rough to CLIMB the curb on the way up but the PT Cruiser handled it quite well. After we were done and got the shot, we went back off the curb. I eased it off slowly so as to be careful, but we did hit a bit hard on the asphalt. It seemed ok.....at first. I mean the frame slammed a bit hard, but cars are tough. As we drove down S. Las Vegas Blvd I started to feel the car vibrating and pulling to the right. Oh great! Apparently, it was the off the curb SLAM that hurt us...or at least the 3k miles new tire on the passenger side. Yeah it was flat, real flat and it wasn't a nail or anything that I could see. I think the bead popped or something. Long story short we pulled into Luxor and I changed to the monkey spare tire. Mrs Mantis tried calling customer service line several times, but to no avail. Somehow I managed to get right through to a person and asked if we should just use as is or take the car back and trade. Needless to say, she said it was probably not safe and we went back to trade it out for the less phat ride, a Chevy Malibu. The Mrs. had to complete an incident report and hopefully we are not responsible for the bead poppage.
Down at least a moral buy-in right from the get go..
