Doubles Poker?

Anyone seen this? When searching for the word "poker" on my DVR, this show called Doubles Poker came up. It appears to be yet another Full Tilt sponsored show where four teams of two play at an 8 handed table....snooze I think. We'll see.

I think its funny if you watch this... you will see the guy in the background casually stacking up the huge bundles of cash to put them away. Man... I always thought that the winner actually had to bring a backpack to carry all that cash home ... My dreams are crushed to think that he just gets some dumb check for $750k.

illegal poker?

I played a local garage tournament last night and things went fairly well. I actually bubbled the money, finishing 5th when they payed out 4 places, sigh. Funny thing was when I moved tables, I see this kid with a lot of chips at the new table. He must have been the chip leader at that table or at least 2nd because there were two really big stacks. When I arrived at the table, I asked aloud who here was getting lucky and who was good. Now this is something that I rarely ever do, but I was in a talkative mood and I have been trying to be less serious and more friendly at the tables. Anyways, his response was, a firm, I'm good, while the other large stack said he was just lucky. The interesting part about this kid is that he looked about 15. Turns out, he was. Needless to say, he didn't hold on to those chips for too long due to a failed river all in bluff with air versus the biggest calling station in the game, lol. his looks reminded me of goboboy. athe classic ghostbusters shirt to boot.

He finished one 24-36 ounce Mtn Dew and popped open another. I was glad to see him later in the cash game where I was able to recover my tourney buy in and a bit more.

Lost at poker, but won dinner

Well a couple of buy-ins down today, but I asked for a dinner comp and got $20 to Sage. Ship the peppered beef tenderloin with asparagus and jasmine rice freeroll.

The drama began far sooner than the final table commenced, as things got a little testy near the money bubble when Matthew Marafioti complained to tournament officials about the payout structure. Marafioti was upset that less than 10 percent of the field was being paid, and he petitioned for more than just the final eight players to walk away with some cash. After relentless pressure, the chip leaders finally gave in and agreed to alter the structure so that 11 players would make the money. Marafioti was eliminated in 12th place.

This cracked me up. First because I could see myself trying to negotiate a deeper payout, but secondly because it would be my luck that the same thing would happen.

Kind of makes me wish that I was "born without an asshole"...
